FOREWORD

This book is made in order to clear the hazy origin of the Sagario Family of Katipunan including those in Sindangan. Sagarios in Katipunan as my research goes is said to be divided into two (2) family line ages. The family of Don Luciano Empremiado Sagario who was born on 1852 in Dapitan City and got married to Doña Concepion Jalapadan whose children namely are: Mauricio, Irenia, Restituta, Ciriaco and Ana. They belong the lineages of Don Gaspar Sagario, one of the origin Sagario’s who migrated to Dapitan from Bohol. The other was Don Martin Magtuba Sagario married to Doña Saturnina Elcamel Orcia, their children were Rosendo, Leona, Remigia, all in the lineage of Juan Sagario, brother of Gaspar . Thus the question was answered and doubts finally ended. As we all know the Dagohoy Revolution in Bohol started in 1774 to August 31,1829, which prompted the Sagario family to get involved. About sometime after the Revolution the Spaniards suppressed the family and forced them to migrate in Mindanao. Records will show that there were nine brothers. The migrating brothers believed that traveling along the shorelines with the help of the wind, they could cover distant places in the big island of Mindanao which was nearly impossible to do by foot since Mindanao at that time was still a virgin forest except to the small settlements along the shores. But as my research continues I found out that in the U.S. Immigration Department by the year 1920 a certain Fernando Sagario migrated to the U.S in the State of California. He hails from the town of Leucca, Italy his point of origin. He was the 1st Sagario who migrated to the mainland U.S.A

On the other hand I discovered that in the Province of Andalucia, Spain a magnificent century old gothic Cathedral called the Sagario Cathedral. Also in one of the island of Spain, a town there celebrated their Annual Sagario Cristo festival which lasted for five days of merry making and dancing the Flamenco. In leon, a place called Sagario Metropolitano there they found the great Hacienderos of Guatemala, Honduras, and Argentina.

God bless the author. As I feel blessed to find this piece. My great grand mother is named Sebastiana Orcia, daughter of Pablo Orcia and Betina Ruiz. Do these names appear in your research? Thank you.
